Wire Tap by Dianne Bowen and Heins Kim
New York, NY On Friday, September 26th, art.les.nyc
studios hosts "Wire Tap", a show of new work by artists
Dianne Bowen and Heins Kim. Located at 202 Rivington Street
(between Ridge and Pitt Streets), the opening night
reception will begin at 7PM and will showcase site-specific
installations and selected works from both New York based
artists.
"Wire Tap" examines the lines of communication and
infinite conversations through which information bounces
faster than the speed of light within a border less global
community. Bowen says "What and how we listen and hear
these sounds and moments has filters, censors known and
unknown." Wire Tap explores the process of this
information responding and transforming the hidden lower
level space of art.les.nyc studios. The buildings old wiring
clings to the outside of the walls cascading down from the
rooftop sliding between the decaying and renovated
architecture of the space.
Dianne Bowen, originally from Brooklyn, NY, is a painter
and installation artist rooted in American Abstract
Expressionism. Most recently, Bowen has shown at A Gathering
of the Tribes Gallery, and A.I.R. Gallery in New York.
Heins Kim was born and raised in Southern California to
Korean-immigrant parents from Germany. He works in painting,
sculpture, and installation. Heins has shown and has curated
shows in Los Angeles and New York, currently showing in a
group show at The Pelham Art Center in Pelham, New York
in which his work was published by "The New York Times"
Further utilizing the outdoor space, a live projection of
the first 2008 Presidential Debate will be screened. As
usual at art.les.nyc studios, The Tiki Bar located in the
Jamaican Lounge will be full stocked with Grog-n-Scrod
Sangria and a selection of beers and water for a humble
suggested donation price.
